News of death of Colin Grant

We have sad news of the death of Colin Grant. The following words were written by his son John,.
Colin Cameron Grant 22nd February 1939 – 3rd October 2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Colin after a long and very happy life. Colin was a kind, gentle and modest person (with a great sense of humour) who took great joy out of life. Colin was a dear and much-loved husband to Agnes, and devoted dad to Anne and John and loving Grandpa to Sarah, James, and Lara. He will be forever in their hearts. Colin was a player for the Club. After his playing years, he enjoyed helping to run and coach the Mini-Rugby whilst fundraising for the club with the famous “mini-discos” during the 1980s. Colin also enjoyed watching the beautiful game, spending many a Saturday afternoon in his later years watching a match with Jack Summers, Dick Lewington and Wilf Ross. Thursday nights at the Club were a special time when Colin would relax and catch up over a pint of half and half with wonderful people like Jack Summers, Dick Lewington, Wilf Ross, Derek Kell, Ian Clark, Paddy and Micky Douglas, Ian Willis, Rafi Fawcett, Brian Durham, and many, many more. The Grant Family Colin’ s funeral will be on Thursday 13th October 2022 at Saltwell Crematorium. Saltwell Road South, Low Fell, Gateshead, NE9 6DT Please meet at 11.50am, with the service starting at 12noon. Family flowers only please. There will also be a collection at the Crematorium at the end of the Service for Macmillan Cancer Support – Gateshead Palliative Care Team, and afterwards at Eslington Villa, 8 Station Road, Low Fell, Gateshead, NE9 6DR.
